Baking for a Bigger Reason: Bob the Baker Boy x Children’s Aid Society Singapore
Posted on 14 Sept 2026
Giving Back in Singapore
Every cake we make at Bob the Baker Boy starts with the same question: who is this for, and how do we make them feel loved, special and celebrated?
This September and October, we are asking that question on a bigger scale.
From 1 September to 31 October 2026, Bob the Baker Boy and Pinch Bakehouse are partnering with Children’s Aid Society (Singapore) for the #GiveChildhood campaign.
The idea is simple: help support children and young people who have experienced family adversity, while making sure more birthdays still come with something every child deserves to feel: celebrated.
A birthday cake is a small thing, until you see what it can mean to the person receiving it.
What Is the #GiveChildhood Campaign?
#GiveChildhood is a fundraising campaign by Children’s Aid Society (Singapore), supported by Bob the Baker Boy and Pinch Bakehouse. From 1 September to 31 October 2026, donors who contribute $188 or more receive a 25% bakery voucher, while every $1,000 raised helps sponsor a birthday cake for a child at Melrose Home. Eligible donations also receive 40% matching from Tote Board.
Why Birthday Cakes Matter More Than We Sometimes Realise
When you bake birthday cakes every day, it is easy to think about them in terms of flavours, sizes and designs.
Chocolate or vanilla. Six inches or eight. Minimalist or colourful.
But a birthday cake is also a message.
It says:
You matter enough for someone to remember your day.
That is why this partnership resonated with us.
Children’s Aid Society supports children and young people who have experienced family adversity and child protection concerns, helping them heal, rebuild confidence and move towards safer futures.
We make birthday cakes in Singapore every day for families celebrating milestones.
The idea that a cake could help make another child’s birthday feel a little more normal, joyful and memorable felt like something worth being part of.

Donate to #GiveChildhoodHow This Partnership Started
This did not begin in a marketing meeting.
It began with a customer.
Cindy, from Melrose Home under Children’s Aid Society, had been ordering from Bob the Baker Boy and Pinch Bakehouse for years.
She would order cakes for colleagues, and over time we kept hearing the same sort of feedback: people enjoyed the flavour, the designs and the little practical touches that came with the cake.
A few years ago, we reached out personally to ask for honest feedback on our bakes.
That simple conversation grew into a relationship.
Then one Saturday, while Cindy was planning the #GiveChildhood fundraiser, she sent a message asking whether we would be interested in supporting it.
We said yes.
And that was really all it took.
A simple “thank you for the cake” can say a lot about what a birthday gesture means.
Why We Said Yes
We are fortunate to receive requests to support different causes.
But a few things made this partnership particularly meaningful to us.
It Started With a Real Relationship
This partnership grew naturally from years of conversations and genuine customer relationships rather than beginning as a promotional campaign.
The Impact Is Easy to Understand
Every $1,000 raised translates into a birthday cake sponsored for a child at Melrose Home.
It Supports Children in Singapore
The campaign supports a Singapore charity working directly with children and young people facing difficult circumstances.
Donors Get Something Back Too
A 25% bakery voucher lets donors celebrate one of their own milestones while helping support someone else’s.
What the Birthday Cakes Actually Mean to the Recipients
The easiest way to explain the impact is probably not with fundraising numbers.
It is with the messages that came back.
One recipient shared that receiving the cake helped make their 18th birthday feel meaningful.
One message thanked the team for making an 18th birthday meaningful.
Another said the cake made their day feel “better and lighter”.
Those are small sentences.
But they are the reason the campaign matters.
A birthday cake cannot solve everything. But it can make one day feel a little more special.
Sometimes the Best Feedback Is Written in Marker
We also received some less formal reviews.
The kind written by hand.
“Can I have more cake?” may be one of our favourite reviews yet.
Among the messages were:
We will take those reviews.

Can Companies Take Part as a CSR Initiative?
Yes.
If your company is planning year-end giving, employee engagement or a corporate social responsibility initiative in Singapore, #GiveChildhood can be a simple way to connect that spend with a local cause.

Corporate Giving Can Do Two Things at Once

One Cake, One Birthday, One Child Feeling Remembered
Most of the cakes leaving our kitchen are heading to birthdays, weddings, office celebrations and family gatherings.
This campaign is a reminder that celebration can mean something even more basic.
Sometimes it means making sure a child gets to hear “Happy Birthday”.
Sometimes it means giving them something to make a wish over.
Sometimes it is simply a cake.
And sometimes, that is enough to make the day feel a little lighter.
